Exploring the people, ideas, and solutions shaping a more sustainable future.

Research and Interests

Environmental challenges are not just about ecosystems, policies, or technologies. They are also about people. My work explores how communities, advocates, scientists, policymakers, and organizations respond to environmental change and shape the decisions that influence our collective future.

Drawing on environmental governance, sustainability, human security, and narrative research, I examine how ideas gain traction, how collaboration emerges, and how individuals and institutions create meaningful change in an increasingly interconnected world.

Through research, teaching, and public engagement, I seek to better understand not only the challenges we face, but also the pathways forward.

The Planetary Possibilities Lab

The Planetary Possibilities Lab (PPL) was created from a simple question:

What becomes possible when we focus on solutions?

While environmental conversations often center on crises and constraints, PPL explores the people, ideas, and innovations working to create positive change. Through storytelling, research, education, and collaboration, the lab highlights environmental leaders, community initiatives, emerging solutions, and new ways of thinking about our relationship with the planet.

By connecting people, place, and possibility, PPL seeks to illuminate hopeful, practical, and inspiring pathways toward a more sustainable future.
